Bonnie Thompson: a great way to end off playing for CG in the last year in high school

Our girl AAA Volleyball team just finished their well-done season two weeks ago with a silver medal! Well done girls! They’ve shown us the spirit of sportsmanship and never give up in any games. We appreciate their efforts and it's our pleasure to have an interview with the captain within this great team,Bonnie Thompson, with us for some sharing of thoughts and feelings.

1) How did you get started playing volleyball and what brings you to participate in the volleyball team?

Bonnie: I started playing volleyball at a program in grade 5, with Ellie (our coach this year) as my first coach! I’ve kept playing because I love the energy and excitement from the sport.

2) What’s the most profound event that has happened to you in volleyball?

Bonnie: I got to play for PEI at the Canada cup a couple summers ago, which was a pretty cool experience.

3) After participating in this team, what is the biggest responsibility you had in your game or practice?

Bonnie: I think the biggest responsibility for all of us has been to give our best effort every time we get a chance to play.

4) What is the biggest challenge you’ve had with your volleyball team members? How did you get over it?

Bonnie: This year we had quite a few injuries, including one pretty major injury a couple weeks before playoffs, and another just days before. We got over this challenge by adjusting our lineups. Some of us had to play different positions than we were used to, and others had to play a lot more during the games.

5) What do you seen as the responsibility of being a leader?

Bonnie: I think the responsibility of being a leader is to be a role model. I think as a grade 12 it’s important to lead by example and make sure the younger players feel comfortable.

6) Finally, say something to your teammates, coaches, and everyone supporting you.

Bonnie: Thank you for a great season! It’s been a great way to end off playing for Colonel Gray!
